Our holidays
Harvest
On the last Friday afternoon of September, every class performs harvest-themed games, after which the children—sneaking past the vigilant dads acting as guards—set off to "steal grapes." The only question is which class will collect the most grapes from those hung up in the yard. The festivities conclude with singing harvest songs together and having a picnic. The menu is limited only by the parents’ imagination.
The 23th of October commemoration
Beyond class-level discussions, the current sixth grade brings to life the events of 1956 in a way that is accessible and understandable for the younger students in the school.
St. Andrew's Day Ball
On the Friday morning closest to St. Andrew's Day, the fourth grade presents their folk dance performance, which they have been preparing for since September. Following this, they celebrate all the Andrews and Katalins, after which our folk dance instructor leads everyone in traditional dance games related to St. Andrew's Day, with participation from all classes. The audience consists of the curious parents of the fourth graders.
Farewell to nature
In early to mid-November, we send nature into its winter slumber in Kamaraerdő with songs, poems, and lanterns.
Advent crowd
During the Advent season, the current third grade’s parent community organizes the market. We decorate the school’s spaces and courtyard in festive attire. There will be a buffet featuring homemade foods and drinks, along with a bazaar offering various goods for our guests. Each class is responsible for different tasks, ensuring that everyone in the school contributes to creating a joyful atmosphere. All proceeds benefit the Kincskeresőkért Foundation, with the parent community deciding how the funds will be used through a voting process.
Carnival
In the morning, class-level carnival games and competitions take place, with everyone wearing colorful costumes. In the afternoon, there’s a bazaar where the children sell their handmade goods to parents, teachers, and their classmates. The currency of choice? Cake! Bargaining is encouraged and even mandatory!
Nature greeting
On a beautiful spring morning, every class sets out to participate in the obstacle course carefully planned by the sixth graders, which is filled with surprises and adventures, whether it's a magical forest, a wild west adventure, or intriguing mysteries waiting to be solved.
The 15th of March commemoration
We collectively commemorate the events of 1848 through reminiscing, quizzes, crafts, recreating the sites in Pest, and, of course, the essential communal singing.
Field running race
The most action-packed morning of the year, where every member of the school can test their speed and agility: a group running and obstacle race, with participants from each class forming teams. The first challenge is finding teammates and choosing a team name. After that, it’s all about moving forward toward the finish line. Eager parents and teachers are also welcome to participate. Typically, the parents tend to win, but we’re working on changing that!
Our anniversaries
35th birthday
On September 15, 2023, we celebrated the 35th anniversary of the school. Parent workgroups were formed, taking the initiative in both organizing and executing the event, as well as in program planning. The school courtyard, classrooms, and sports hall were all beautifully decorated for the occasion. The stage performances showcased a variety of styles, featuring classics, jazz, and folk music. The mixed choir from Kincskereső also took part, representing a diverse range of ages, genders, and connections to the school. Thanks to the community efforts of the Kincskereső families, we, as educators, truly had the opportunity to celebrate without a care in the world.
30th anniversary
We held the 30th anniversary celebration of our school’s founding in the fall of 2018. A large number of alumni and educators, both from long ago and more recently, attended the event. Professionals who had followed Márta Winkler’s pedagogical approach were also present. During a roundtable discussion, we had the opportunity to hear from them and from Márta herself, allowing us to gain firsthand insight into her educational philosophy and the school's origin story. The event featured communal singing, which has always been an important element of daily school life, both then and now. Radio interviews were conducted with parents, educators, and students alike. The grade levels participated in a treasure hunt game, and everyone received a personalized commemorative badge. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the birthday cake!
Ceramics
Each year, our school offers the opportunity for several classes to participate in afternoon pottery workshops. The children can create beautiful glazed items that they can proudly take home.

Puhatoló
"Puhatoló" is a multidisciplinary, movement-based workshop for children that encourages creative and performative connections with both their environment and each other, individually and as a group. The sessions offer a playful, experience-driven exploration of how we relate to space, how we interact with it, and how we leave our mark within it."

Drawing den
The drawing den is designed for the lower grades of the school. Here, we primarily think in two dimensions and images, focusing on various current themes that interest us. However, the children don’t just work with paper and pencil; we strive to create in all sizes and dimensions, experimenting with a wide range of visual techniques.

Elective courses for fifth and sixth grades
Since 2023, we have been offering afternoon activities for 5th and 6th grade students. These sessions are designed to enrich students' after-school experiences while fostering a stronger sense of community, making participation highly encouraged. Students commit to these activities for one term, with the option to either continue or explore new programs at the term's end based on their interests. Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to activities that engage and inspire them. Below is an overview of the programs we've offered so far, and we are continuously expanding and diversifying our offerings.
Bicycle and floorball — Ági
If the weather is nice, we enjoy longer bike rides in the local area; otherwise, we play floorball in the gym.
Soccer — Áron
Afternoon Movement Opportunities – Not Just for Boys! The goal is to learn the fundamentals of playing in a team.
Baking and cooking course — B. Judit
The students will collaboratively collect and select recipes from Hungary and other cultures for the class, which they will then prepare in the 'kids’ kitchen' (a dining area equipped with a stove and sink). They will contribute ingredients together, and there will be enough for everyone at home to taste as well! This session is for those who enjoy baking and cooking
Drama — S. Anna, Móni
Drama Games - The Art of Action. Drama is a place where you can step into someone else's life for an hour, exploring and shaping their experiences. It allows you to encounter challenges from a fresh perspective and work together to find exciting solutions.
Embroidery — Kata
Embroidery both relaxes and delights. Even the most ordinary objects can be transformed with it, whether it's a picture, a T-shirt, or even shoes. It’s a peaceful workshop for every creative upper-grade student.
Cardgames — Emese
Once upon a time, though not today
(but please don’t ask the year),
the Queen of Spades wandered away
into a far-off deck of cards.
Pumpkins and acorns pricked her tiny feet,
green leaves tangled in her hair,
and wherever she stepped, Roman numerals
chased her, wild and stark with fright.
"Oh dear," she sighed, "how terrifying!"
For those interested in the continuation of Dani Varró's poem, and especially in card games, the ZSUGA club is warmly inviting you!
Board games — S. Anna, Lina
During the session, students explore various board games, trying out different roles and situations while cooperating or competing for victory. They create maps and design colorful patterns together.
Time travelers historical and artistic adventures — Szabolcs, Áron
A journey through the ages for those interested in history, society, and the arts. Students will explore chosen topics through discussions, images, and moving pictures during the sessions. The theme for the first few classes is the city.
Life at our school doesn’t stop in the summer.
Upper-grade students have the opportunity to participate in biking and rowing camps, as well as adventure camps.
Our day camps held at the school are open to all age groups. Here, various stories come to life (such as Harry Potter, Asterix and Obelix or the Indian camp), we engage in crafts, build shelters, trade, cook for ourselves, and play a lot.
Music school
Preparatory training in music, solfège
Through the development of auditory and rhythmic skills, along with learning and practicing music reading, children can acquire the essential foundational knowledge needed for instrumental learning. The classes are conducted by the instructors at the Weiner Leo Catholic Music School and Music Vocational School.

Visual culture encompasses sensory experiences and creativity, both of which play a crucial role in enhancing focus, problem-solving, decision-making, and a range of other essential skills. In our art classes, our goal is not simply to teach children how to draw “beautifully,” but to cultivate these critical abilities through the use of visual tools. This approach ensures that every child experiences a sense of accomplishment through art, which can positively influence many areas of their future lives.
Rather than adhering to the clichés of traditional drawing textbooks, we emphasize expanding tool use, technical skills, and material knowledge within specific themes and structured frameworks. At the same time, we encourage a high degree of creative freedom. Our focus is on bringing each child's imagination and ideas to life through various visual, spatial, or digital representation methods, exploring topics that span from art history and fairy tales to everyday life experiences.
Art class often serves as a refreshing break for children from more demanding lessons that require sustained focus. Our aim is to create a calming environment amidst the information overload of the 21st century, helping students recharge and reenergize.
